How does the commission process work?
*Beginning | I work predominantly from photographs provided by my clients. The quality of the images is crucial to the success of the final portrait: photos should be well-lit, in focus, and high resolution (at least 1MB). Additional close-ups may be required for detail. To start discussing a potential piece, you can send photos by email, via my contact page, or by mail. Your photos and description will give me an idea of what I can do for you, and I will respond with options and estimates.
*Design | We will discuss your ideas and preferences before finalizing the best design, size, and background.
*Payment | After we have agreed on the photograph, watercolor board size, and delivery schedule, I will email a commission agreement stating what is being created, the turnaround time and payment terms. Once I have received the signed agreement and a 50% deposit, I will confirm your entry onto my waitlist. Final payment is made when you are completely satisfied. Check, credit card and PayPal are accepted.
*Schedule | To ensure the highest quality of work and client satisfaction, the process cannot be rushed. A commissioned portrait painting takes 1 to 3 months to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the image. Special scheduling accommodations can be made upon request.
*Progress | You will receive regular emailed images of your work in progress; your feedback is important throughout this process.
*Shipping | Shipping is worldwide. Please discuss this with me as prices vary greatly depending on the size of piece chosen and its destination. Shipping costs are calculated separately and are paid by the client.
Thank you for your interest in my art! I look forward to seeing your photos and working with you to design a special gift to enjoy for a lifetime.
